Luce County tilts more republican than most of the UP, both at local and state levels. It’s more democrat in statelevel elections due to state workers (Corrections) and prefers social conservative democrats overall. Neither Gore or Kerry sold here, although Granholm won here because of the dislike of John Engler in North Michigan. It has taken a right shift, since Adamini has been unable to win Luce County twice, despite being in a solid democrat district overall due to Marquette County.
