Update 5-25-2012 - No primaries here. That's a big deal in this district which can be more friendly to us without the infighting caused by RINOs like the Stewarts.

This district got much safer. Population growth here forced the district to contract, and it dropped Wayne to the 16th district. The district now consists of both the cities and townships of Northville, Plymouth, and eastern Canton Twp.

The old district was competitive. RINO John Stewart held the district, followed by democrat Marc Corriveau in an upset in 2006. Corriveau won by 900 votes, winning his portion of Canton by 920, the City of Northville by 150, the City of Plymouth by 500, and the City of Wayne by 2000.

Plymouth City swings, maybe leans slightly dem at the top of the ticket. Canton is competitive overall, but this portion of Canton is solidly democrat. Plymouth and Northville Townships strongly lean Republican. Obama won the new district by about 1800 votes using Dave's Redistricting numbers. That's due to Canton, Northville (city), and the City of Plymouth. Kurt Heise won everywhere except his part of Canton and Wayne (no longer in the district).

This district isn't completely safe, but should lean GOP.
