Cassandra Ulrich - 36,526

This district changes slightly from the old 12th. It drops GOP leaning Rochester and Rochester Hills to the 13th, and Lake Angelus to the 14th. It picks up competitive Southfield Twp from the old 15th and strongly republican Bloomfield Township from the 13th. The rest stays the same. It is not completely safe with the democrat strongholds of Pontiac and Auburn Hills, but this district has never been close downticket despite being a "swing" district on paper at the top of the ticket. Gary Peters won a much different district with Pontiac in the 90's. This is a mostly North Oakland based district, and Northern Oakland County is the most republican part of the Detroit tri-county area. In addition, it'll be extremely unlikely to see swing voters outside of Pontiac vote for a Pontiac area rep. Maybe Tim Melton would make it tough, but despite Obama's win here due to Pontiac and Auburn Hills, I don't see Marleau getting beat here. Mike Bishop won a very similar district by 16000 votes in a very bad year.

This district isn't safe, but it leans GOP, especially at the state senate level.
