Update 8-30-2012 - Bill LaVoy won the primary. The primary was close, so I wouldn't be adverse to taking a shot at this district if Rossio has a good campaign organization going.
Update - 5-25-2012 - A three way primary makes this interesting. If this goes negative in a big way and our state party has the extra resources, I might suggest taking a shot at this if the 2010 influences hold up some.
2010 Results - Old District (56th)

This district is an open district that leans democrat, but it meant to protect two other districts. Zorn's in Ida, but his new district is more similar to the old Matt Milosch/Kathy Angerer 55th with no Pittsfield Township. Sommerville's district drops his 2nd worst area and an area he barely won.
This is a brand new district. I really can't compare an old or new one. It covers these areas:
Wayne County - Sumpter Township, Flat Rock, and Rockwood
Monroe County - London, Exeter, Frenchtown, Ash, Berlin Twps. City of Monroe.
This is one of those districts that isn't impossible to win considering the major 2010 swing in Monroe County, but nothing with Sumpter Township, Frenchtown Township, and the City of Monroe comes easy. It would take a top level candidate and a little bit of luck to take this one. If it's a big year, go for it. Sumpter's a big problem however. I never understood why that was such a strong dem area compared to neighboring Huron Twp.
