Current Rep – John Pappageorge (R-Troy, Termed out)
2010 Results - Old District (13th)
John Pappageorge - 62,324
Aaron Bailey - 42,830
This district is slightly safer than it was, but isn't one I'd consider safe. The 13th gained GOP leaning Rochester and Rochester Hills and dropped democrat Madison Heights and GOP leaning Bloomfield Hills. It still has the democrat strongholds of Royal Oak and Berkley and the GOP leaning (but not by the margins it used to) Troy. The democrats nearly picked up this seat in 2006 when Andy Levin (son of Sander) nearly beat John Pappageorge.
I expect this to be a tough defense in 2014. Adding Rochester and Rochester Hills help, but losing Bloomfield Township does not help. Dropping Madison Heights helps, but Berkley and Royal Oak are solidly blue. They aren't Pontiac, but Rochester Hills isn't Independence Twp or the northern townships either.
Marty Knollenberg said that he wasn't going to run for the congressional seat if McCotter decides to run. This district would be a good one for him if he decides not to run for congress. Rochester Hills has a very strong farm club for the GOP as well. Royal Oak has a good farm club for the dems.
