County Seat – Ontonagon (pop 1,769)

Ontonagon County is one of the smallest county by population in the state of Michigan. It is a competitive county in the western UP for top of the ticket races, but tilts more democrat at the local level.

Bush lost a lot of ground here unlike the rest of the UP. I’m not sure of the reasons here. He still ran ahead of Posthumus and Engler here. There were little to no changes in redistricting here.
