Oscoda County, like most of Northeastern Michigan took a right turn in 2004, although democrat incumbents did well here for Congree and State House. Oscoda has been one of the more GOP counties east of I-75. In both 2000 and 2004, President Bush won every township.

Redistricting significantly altered the districts here. Oscoda was dropped from Camp’s solidly Republican Midland based district and added to Bart Stupak’s UP “swing” (although Stupak’s safe) district. It was dropped from the UP/NE Michigan state senate district and added to the Midland/Alpena swing district.
