State House - District 6
Current Rep – Maureen Stapleton? Rashida Talib?
Declared Candidates:
GOP - Darrin Daigle (R-Detroit)
DEM - Rashida Talib (D-Detroit)
Update 8-30-2012 - Talib won the primary in a close election.
UPDATE 5-1-2012
This should be an interesting primary. Two
incumbents are battling each other in this new district. I wouldn't want
to make a bet here since I think it could go either way.
2010 Results - Old District (4th) (12th)
Maureen Stapleton - 15561
Lillian Smith - 547
Rashida Talib - 6997
Darrin Daigle - 611
This district covers Downtown, The Riverfront, most of Southwest, and part of Detroit's East Side. It also picks up Ecorse and River Rouge from the 14th District. It's a 85%+ democrat district, so the primary is the real election.
