Bastards!!!

Over on Smash Left Wing Scum, I found this.

So this nasty cartoon ran in Michigan State University's campus rag. Tomorrow from 1-3 Young Americans for Freedom and MSU's College Republicans will be demonstrating against the State News.

I thought even the "Snooze" had limits.

If anyone's in the Lansing area during that time, I encourage you to make it and show your distaste for this trash being paid for by tax money and tuition money.

Maybe you should take off your blinders and write you congressman asking him to stop spending your money on torture...

Look who is blaming the soldiers, you! Why don't you support leaders who don't believe in torture?

Scum is a proper term for those who promote torture. Those who oppose torture need to stand up for what is moral.

Our soldiers follow orders and are brave men and women. We should not treat their lives so cheaply!

Your big talk rings false to me. Papers need to tell the truth.

A picture says 1,000 words. This is a typical gop response; kill the messenger instead of addressing the problem. It’s sad where this president had led us; from the good guys wearing white hats to hated Americans who torture people. That’s the issue; We are torturing people and its wrong. I’m so glad I retired from the military 10 years ago and don’t have to serve under this president. If you’re going to protest, protesting against this country practicing torture, not the people bringing it to our attention.

What's considered torture. Making terrorists stand in one position? Taking away Cable TV? Noises? Embarassing them? These aren't exactly the salt of the earth here.

If it's real torture, that's one thing, and punish the perps involved as individuals. There's a court system for that.

But that's not what the Snews is doing. They are calling our troops torturers and doing the same thing that traitor John Kerry did to the troops 30 years ago calling them war criminals in his book "The New Soldier" (Which I've read) History once again is repeating itself.

All we have here is a bunch of partisan hacks in the media attacking the troops so they can get political points making Bush look bad. That's damn wrong. Politics needs to stop at the border, and I don't care whose in the white house.

And the worst of them all is the media.

What’s torture? Among the abuses reported at Gitmo and Abu Ghraib include beating, burning and prisoners handcuffed to a railing with a nylon sack on their heads and a shower curtain draped around them, being slapped by a soldier to keep him awake. Not to mention dog attacks and being handcuffed in uncomfortable positions. Yes, I consider that torture.

The problem is the “courts’ are dealing with the troops you say you support when they are only following orders from the White House down, that’s who should be held accountable.

The news is not criticizing the troops; the cartoon is illustrating a concept. The concept is the world, rightly, saw the United States and heroes that liberated death camps, and now the world sees us and our troops as people who torture.

It’s so ironic that you say the news can’t criticize the troops, when they are not, yet you call a troop who fought for his country honorably in Vietnam.

I guess you have bought into the gop political strategy of kill the messenger of the so-called liberal media. Too bad it’s not true.
The only person making bush look bad is bush, and even worse than that, bush is making this country look bad. But you’re so partisan you will never see that.

Not taking a side on the discussion happening above, but I wanted to point out that the State News is an independent newspaper, meaning no tax money, or tution money was used to print that paper. Just a point of clarification. . .

The U.S. doesn't torture, but we should.

to the scoop....

ummm....what does my 5 dollar a semester State News tax go to then?

Students at MSU pay a State News tax? It's required? If that is the case, I take back what I said, and take issue with the monikor "indepedent" that the paper touts. by it's web site, they give off the impression they are independent (meaning sustained wholey by ad revenue).

When I was a student, I paid a $5 tax as well.

I'm not sure how much ASMSU (or other Programming board) funding they received.
